Archives

The Institute of Advanced Legal Studies has several archive collections, held within the Library and administered by the IALS Archivist. The IALS Archives includes the records of numerous organisations and individuals connected with legal education, as well as the records of the Institute itself.

The IALS Archives was established in the 1990s during the Records of Legal Education Project, which was funded by the Leverhulme Trust to investigate records of legal education. During the project, IALS accepted a number of collections from organisations and individuals which otherwise had no institutional home or were at risk. Since the end of the project, IALS has continued to accept deposits of archive material relating to legal education.
