Graduate Trainee Library Assistants
The IALS library plays a leading role in the training of law librarians in the United Kingdom. One of the ways that this is achieved is through the recruitment each year of graduate trainee library assistants to the library staff.
During their year here the trainees gain experience of working in four different sections of the library, attend training sessions on the use of legal reference materials and visit several law libraries in London. Many of the trainees go on to complete a postgraduate qualification in information studies and to work in law libraries in the commercial, academic and government sectors.
Given below are details of the qualifications and jobs obtained by some of the ex-graduate trainees of the Institute from the last few years, where this information has been obtainable.
