Welcome to the Sir William Dale Legislative Drafting Clinic!

We are very pleased to welcome you to the Sir William Dale Legislative Drafting Clinic, an initiative of the Sir William Dale Centre at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.

The Clinic adds to the theoretical and professional drafting programmes offered at the Centre: the LLM in Advanced Legislative Studies, the LLM in Advanced Legislative Studies via Distance Learning, the Summer Course in Legislative Drafting, and the many tailor made courses designed to respond to specific client requests. Although Law Clinics are a long established method of bridging the gap between theoretical tuition and its practical application to real cases, our legislative drafting clinic is innovative: it is amongst the pioneers of its kind in that it applies the concept of clinical legal education to legislative drafting. Further, the clinic combines academic knowledge in the field of legislative studies with practical drafting experience. 

The purpose of the Clinic is to promote practical legal education for legislative drafters, whilst benefiting clients with free legislative drafting services. 

The symbiotic relationship between trainee drafters and clients is overseen by three wonderful Directors, Ronan Cormacain, Dr. Mazhar Ilahi, and Maria Mousmouti. I feel honoured to serve as the Chair.
